What is CVD diamond?
CVD diamond is a type of synthetic diamond produced using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) techniques. In the crystal growth process, pure gases such as methane and hydrogen are introduced into a reaction chamber. Under controlled conditions, carbon atoms are decomposed from the gases and deposited onto a substrate, forming a diamond crystal structure. This method results in diamonds that are typically high in purity, uniformity, and controllability. Unlike natural diamonds and those produced by High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) methods, CVD diamonds are particularly suited for creating large-area diamond crystals, wafers, and films. These materials have applications in various fields, including optics, thermal management, quantum information, and semiconductors.
